G19daemon for Logitech G19 on Linux

G19daemon puts the G19’s 320×240 colour LCD, keyboard backlight, and twelve G-keys to work. It runs in the system tray and keeps separate bindings and colours for three M-profiles.

Downloads and verification

Download the Linux binary or matching source from Shared Files. Setup instructions, release notes, and SHA-256 checksums are available there in the setup dialog. Both archives also include documentation and file manifests.

The author confirmed the updated application is working on a physical Logitech G19 on September 21, 2026, including text input on KDE Wayland. The website edition passed all seven Release regression suites.

Eleven plugins

Clock, LCD brightness, keyboard colour, default-output volume, MPRIS media controls, hardware sensors, system graphs, HTTP notifications, process monitoring, Macro Editor, and Music Viewer.

Music Viewer combines MPRIS playback controls, artwork, track position, and a spectrum visualizer of the default audio output. Browser playback uses desktop MPRIS where available; direct Chromium debugging is optional and disabled by default.

Setup and desktop integration

Extract the binary archive and keep all eleven plugin libraries beside the executable. Quit an older instance and run ./g19daemon as your desktop user. Compatible Qt 6, KF6Wallet, PulseAudio, libusb, libei, libxkbcommon, and Linux runtime libraries are required. The binary was built with Qt 6.10.1 and glibc 2.44; the source download supports rebuilding for your distribution.

The included helper/70-g19.rules grants USB access to the active local session for device 046d:c229. Extracting the ZIP does not install system rules or change autostart. G19s and other USB IDs have not been verified.

HOME opens the plugin menu. M1–M3 switch profiles. On Wayland, enable keyboard control through the desktop permission prompt, refocus the intended field, and press the G-key again. General key/mouse macros and recording still require X11.

September 2026 fixes

This release corrects password exposure in command arguments and macro serialization, USB transfer ownership and unplug handling, HTTP parsing, macro timing and release behavior, media processing, system metrics, and LCD layouts. HTTP notifications listen on loopback.

Password actions use KWallet. Legacy passwords migrate only after successful wallet writes; old backups are not automatically erased. Source archives include regression tests and the review’s remaining validation notes.
